1. Purpose of This Agreement

This agreement covers participation in DevilBotz Team 2876 activities, including:

  • Team meetings and build sessions
  • Workshops and training
  • Outreach events and demonstrations
  • Fundraising activities
  • Travel to and from team‑organized events
  • Any robotics‑related activity not directly operated by FIRST®

This agreement is separate from the FIRST Consent & Release, which applies only to FIRST‑sanctioned programs and competitions.

2. Voluntary Participation

Participation in DevilBotz Team 2876 is voluntary.

Team activities may involve hands‑on work with tools, machinery, electrical components, programming equipment, and other materials commonly used in competitive robotics.

3. Assumption of Risk

By participating, I acknowledge that DevilBotz activities may involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Minor cuts, scrapes, or bruises
  • Exposure to tools, moving parts, or machinery
  • Lifting or carrying materials
  • Physical activity during team events
  • Travel to and from meetings or events

The DevilBotz leadership team takes reasonable steps to promote safety, supervision, and responsible tool use.

4. Medical Authorization

If a parent/guardian cannot be reached during an emergency, I authorize supervising adult(s) affiliated with DevilBotz Team 2876 to seek appropriate medical care for my child.

I understand that I am responsible for any associated medical costs.

5. Media Permission (Team‑Level)

I grant permission for DevilBotz Team 2876 to take and use photographs, video, or audio recordings of my child for team‑related purposes, including:

  • • Team website, social media, and promotional materials
  • • Sponsor communications
  • • Outreach and educational presentations
  • • Event documentation

This permission does not grant rights to FIRST or event partners; those are covered separately by the FIRST Consent & Release.

6. Transportation Acknowledgment

Transportation to and from DevilBotz activities may be provided by parents, volunteers, or school staff.

The team does not provide commercial transportation services.

7. Student Responsibilities

All DevilBotz students agree to:

  • Follow all safety rules, mentor instructions, and lab procedures
  • Use tools and equipment responsibly and only after receiving proper training
  • Treat teammates, mentors, volunteers, and event staff with respect
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and professional team environment
  • Report unsafe behavior or equipment concerns to a mentor immediately
  • Uphold the values of FIRST and the DevilBotz organization

Failure to follow these expectations may result in removal from activities.

8. Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

Parents and guardians agree to:

  • Ensure their student attends meetings safely and on time
  • Communicate any medical, behavioral, or accessibility needs that may affect participation
  • Support team expectations for safety, conduct, and respectful behavior
  • Encourage their student to follow mentor guidance and team procedures
  • Understand that robotics is a volunteer‑run program and that schedules may shift during build season

Parents play a key role in helping maintain a safe and supportive environment for all participants.

9. Mentor & Volunteer Status Acknowledgment

DevilBotz Team 2876 is supported by adult mentors and volunteers who provide guidance, supervision, and technical instruction. These individuals serve in a volunteer capacity and are not paid employees or licensed professionals.

By participating in team activities, I acknowledge that:

  • Mentors and volunteers offer support based on their experience and good‑faith judgment.
  • Mentors and volunteers provide reasonable supervision but cannot guarantee the prevention of all injuries or accidents.
  • Students are expected to follow all safety rules, instructions, and team procedures to help maintain a safe working environment.

This acknowledgment does not limit or waive any rights provided by law. It simply clarifies the volunteer nature of the adults supporting DevilBotz Team 2876 and the shared responsibility for maintaining a safe team environment.

This agreement does not replace the FIRST Consent & Release Agreement. Both documents must be completed for participation in FIRST Robotics Competition events.
